Lazy Search Plugin 3.0b1 Released

I'm pleased to announce v3.0b1 of the Lazy Search Music plugin for SlimServer 7.0. This is the first release that works on the unstable development version of SlimServer, so if you're involved with the development or testing of that version then this is the Lazy Search plugin version you need.

This is a beta release of the plugin and so there may be outstanding problems that I've not found. However, I'm reasonably confident that it works as I've run through my complete test suite and found no outstanding problems.

Lazy Search Progress for SlimServer 7.0a1

Just to reassure anybody who cares, but I'm working on an update to the plugin for SlimServer 7.0a1 (ie the changing development build) at the moment.

It's coming along nicely and I expect to be able to announce it within a couple of weeks.

You can track my progress here.

Lazy Search Plugin v2.3 Released

I'm pleased to announce v2.3 of the Lazy Search Music plugin for SlimServer 6.5.x and 7.0. The major enhancement in this version is support for the MusicIP mixer (formerly MusicMagic), and there are also a number of other small enhancements and bug fixes.

Brief details of the changes are as follows:

  • The MusicIP mixer is now supported (maybe MoodLogic too - let me know as I cannot test this). Press-and-hold PLAY on lazy search results to produce a mix based on that search result (ticket:9).

Script to maintain a transcoded MP3 tree

I've written a small utility that can be used to maintain a MP3 directory mirror of a FLAC music tree source. This is particularly useful if your main music tree is in FLAC format, but you have a portable music player that needs MP3 format and you don't want to keep transcoding the files.

Using this script, suitably scheduled to run periodically, you'll have an up-to-date MP3 tree that you can just copy files from. Any changes to the source tree (additions, modifications and deletions), are mirrored to the destination tree.

Lazy Search Plugin v2.2.2 Released

I'm pleased to announce v2.2.2 of the Lazy Search Music plugin for SlimServer 6.5.x and 7.0. This has no major changes, but quite a few minor enhancements and bugfixes. Brief details of the changes are as follows:

  • It should now be possible to search for accented characters with lazy search as they are treated as though they are unaccented (eg "Björk" can be searched for as "BJORK"). Thanks to Kim B. Heino for reporting it and testing the fix.
  • Finnish translation added (thanks very much to Kim B. Heino for the patch).

Lazy Search v2.2 for SlimServer 6.5/7.0 released

I have produced a new version of the Lazy Search Music plugin for SlimServer version 6.5 and 7.0.

This revision is a large update to add support for keyword searches as suggested by Rutt on the Slim Devices' forums.

Keyword searching is useful for finding items when you're not sure whether the text being searched for appears within the artist, album or song name, or when you want to perform an 'AND' search that includes the artist name, album name and the song title (normally you can't specify your search on more than one).

"par.pl" - A Personal Audio Recorder in a Perl Script

I've added a script that can be used to periodically download and transcode radio programmes from Real Audio internet streams here. It runs on Linux and makes use of a number of open source tools to do its job.

LazySearch v1.2 Released for SlimServer 6.2/6.3

I've produced a bugfix release of the Lazy Search plugin for SlimServer 6.2 and 6.3. Note that this bug doesn't affect v2.x versions of the plugin for SlimServer 6.5 and so there's no corresponding release for that SlimServer version.

Lazy Search v2.1 available for latest Slimserver 6.5 beta

I have now updated the Lazy Search plugin to be compatible with the latest versions of SlimSever (ie since the split-scanner changes were merged into the development trunk).

This is working well for me, and some independent testing was performed by Rutt, so you should find it works OK for you too.

Note that this plugin is only compatible with SlimServer 6.5 (which must be revision 8300 or later); if you're using SlimServer 6.2 or 6.3 you should be using v1.1 of the plugin instead.

Lazy Searching and the Roku SoundBridge

I have had a report that the performance of this plugin for a SlimServer-powered SoundBridge is less than stellar due to the lack of number buttons on the SoundBridge remote control! Needless to say, but the presence of number buttons on your remote control is something of a pre-requisite for this plugin...!
